The Droid Army of the Separatists

The Separatists had a huge army of droids which were built by the Trade Federation, the Geonosians, and many others. These droids included hailfire droids, super battle droids, droidekas, vulture droids, and many others. In this post you will learn about several droids in the droid army.

B-1 battle droid

B-1 battle droids are the main droids of the droid army. They are mass produced by the Geonosians and on Techno Union worlds. They answer to central computers, but words confuse them as much as lightsabers and blaster bolts destroy them.

Super battle droids

After the failed invasion of Naboo, the Separatists constructed a new droid, the B-2 battle droid. It is much stronger than the B-1 battle droids, but it still had its faults. In its determination to destroy its target, a super battle droid would push other droids aside, or simply blast them.

Droidekas

Also known as destroyers, droidekas have two blasters on each of their arms and three legs. Their shields make them nearly impossible to destroy. A droideka's complex structure can roll into a ball for faster travel.

Spider droids

Dwarf spider droids are named because of their spider-like appearance. They have four legs and one long blaster mounted on the head.

Hailfire droids

Originally used by the Banking Clan for debt collection, hailfire droids travel on two gigantic wheels. On each side of their body, they hold about 15 missiles. The are named hailfire droids because they attack the enemy with a hail of missiles.

Vulture droids

Droid star fighters, or vulture droids, can both fly and walk. Their wings can fold down to become legs. Vulture droids have about four guns.

Buzz droids

Buzz droids are small droids used to disable enemy fighters. Buzz droids are contained within their shells and stored inside vulture droids or other fighters. Then they are released. When a buzz droid grabs hold of an enemy fighter, their shells open up, exposing their insides. Then they use a small saw to get into the wires in the wing and cause as much damage as possible.
