Dinosaurs
Dinosaurs were reptiles that lived millions of years ago. There were hundreds of different species of dinosaur, including Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, and Spinosaurus.
There were three different types of dinosaur. There were carnivores (animals that eat meat), herbivores (animals that eat plants), and omnivores (animals that eat meat and plants).
Tyrannosaurus rex was a carnivore. The dinosaur had lots of sharp teeth, and each one was as big as a banana. It also had a powerful jaw, capable of crushing bone.
Spinosaurus was a carnivore. It got its name from a large spine running across its back. The dinosaur was bigger than Tyrannosaurus rex.
Triceratops was an herbivore. It had a large frill and three horns, one on its nose and the other two above his head. Triceratops was the main prey of Tyrannosaurus.
About 75 million years ago, the dinosaurs were wiped out in a mass extinction. Nobody knows what caused it. Hundreds of theories have been put forth, including an asteroid strike, a tsunami, and a change in the environment. But dinosaurs aren’t completely extinct. Birds, their descendants, are still around today.
