The Sith are the enemies of the Jedi (see previous post). In this post, you will learn all you need to know about the Sith.

The dark side of the Force

The Sith use the dark side of the Force to harness their powers. A Sith can shoot Force lightning out of his fingertips that may kill the victim. This power is forbidden in the Jedi Order.

The Sith tempt Jedi Knights to try to get them over to the Dark Side. Most of the time, it doesn't work.

Darth Vader

Darth Vader is one of the most famous Sith. He was originally a powerful Jedi named Anakin Skywalker. Anakin entered the Jedi Order as a padawan when he was nine years old. When he was about 20, he abandoned the Jedi Order and joined the Sith. His new Sith master was Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, who turned out to be a Sith Lord called Darth Sidious. Anakin received the Sith name Darth Vader.

On the fiery, lava covered planet of Mustafar, he faced of against his former master and friend, Obi-Wan Kenobi. But Vader was overconfident, and lost the battle. He was very badly burned. There seemed to be no hope for Vader. But Sidious would not give up on his evil apprentice. He took Vader to a secret medical facility and repaired his body using cyber technology.

Vader got a suit of black armour to protect his body. His helmet allowed hm to breath and prevented too much light from getting into his eyes and damaging them. On his chest, a control panel allowed him to operate his life-support systems.

It seemed that Darth Vader was lost forever to the Dark Side. But meeting his son Luke seemed to change him. When Darth Sidious blasted Luke with Force lightning, Anakin returned from the Dark Side to save his son. He killed Sidious, but was fatally injured. Vader died in his son's arms. Anakin had returned from the Dark Side.
