The Rebel Alliance
Founded: 2 BBY
The Rebel Alliance fought back against the Empire with a small fleet of starships. In this post, you will learn everything you need to know about the Rebel Alliance.
Rebel Bases
While the rebellion was in existence, it had several bases. The first was on Dantooine, abandoned soon after in favour of Yavin 4. Rebel pilot Luke Skywalker destroyed the Death Star, saving the rebels on Yavin 4. This base was soon evacuated.

The rebels' next base was on Hoth. The base was named Echo Base, and required constant maintenance due to melting ice and cave-ins. The planet was very cold, and had a small number of inhabitants. The rebels were discovered by one of Darth Vader's probe droids, which had been sent all over the galaxy to find the rebels. AT-ATs attacked Echo Base, and the rebels evacuated. From then on, their base was on a cruiser, named Home One.

Vehicles
The rebels had several different starfighters and vehicles. These are some of them.
X-wing
The X-wing starfighter was named because of its wings, which could open up to form an X shape. It had four wings (or S-foils), which were locked together when not in battle, and opened when in combat. The starfighter was armed with four cannons, one on each of its wing's tips, and proton torpedoes. An astromech droid could also fit in the space behind the pilot, to help him with the flying.
Y-wing
The Y-wing starfighter had two ion engines placed behind its cockpit, with the cockpit in the front. It was armed with four guns and ion torpedoes. Just like the X-wing, the Y-wing has room for an astromech droid behind the cockpit. It is slower and less responsive than the X-wing, but it had been in use since the Clone Wars.
Snowspeeders
When the Empire's AT-ATs attacked Echo Base, the rebels sent out modified T-47 airspeeders (or snowspeeders) to stop them. Snowspeeders had room for two people, a pilot and a gunner. The gunner controlled the grappling gun on the back of the speeder. On Hoth, snowspeeders used the grappling gun to wrap cables around the AT-ATs' legs, toppling them.
Rebel Troopers
Rebel troops and pilots comprised of Imperial dropouts, bush pilots, and criminals. When they joined the Rebellion, they were given weapons and basic firearms training.
