9/11

On the morning of Tuesday, September 11, four planes were hijacked by Islamic terrorists and crashed. Two of the planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan. Both towers collapsed.

The third plane, American Airlines Flight 77, was crashed into the Pentagon, the headquarters of the U.S. Armed Forces in Arlington County, Virginia. Part of the building's west side collapsed after the crash.

A fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, was originally planned to make its crash in Washington, D.C., but thanks to the brave actions of several passengers, was crashed into a field in Stonycreek Township, Pennsylvania, saving many lives.

In total, 2,996 people were killed and another 25,000 injured in the 9/11 disaster. The crashes caused over $10 billion worth of damage. 9/11 was the biggest terrorist attack in human history, not to mention the deadliest.
