How to make a secret sentence storage unit

 Do you have secret codes or sentences that you want to hide from curious eyes? If so, then this post will tell you exactly how to do it!

You will need:
A piece of paper
A pencil

Step 1

If your piece of paper is a square, you can skip this step. If it isn't, fold it as shown in the picture below and cut off the piece that is hanging out. Unfold the triangle that is left, and you will have perfect square.

Step 2

Take your secret storage unit and fold in the corners to make them meet in the middle as shown.

Step 3

Repeat Step 2.

Step 4

On each flap, write two numbers, from 1 to eight, all the way around, as show below.

Step 5

Unfold the four flaps with numbers on them. Once you have opened them, you should see four more flaps. On the corner of each flap, write the numbers 9 to 12, as shown below. Refold the flaps when finished.

Step 6

Fold the paper in half horizontally. Unfold, and then fold the paper vertically. While the paper is folded, pick it up by the corners and lightly push inwards, as shown below.

Step 7

Flatten the paper to make a square as shown.

How to use

You've finished your secret storage unit! This is how to use it. Let's say the sentence that you want to put in it is "My secret codename is Superman". Under every flap, one or two words will be stored. Let's say that you put the word "My" under flap 1, "secret" under flap 6, "codename" under flap 3, "is" under flap 10, and "Superman" under flap 9.

If anyone were to look in the storage unit, all they would see was a bunch of random words. But if you know the order of the flaps, you will be able to read the sentence. For the example, the order is 1-6-3-10-9. If you read the words under the flaps in this order, you will see the sentence.

You can store a lot more than just one sentence, though. You could fill all the flaps with word(s), and they could be arranged in different ways to make tons of different sentences.

Remember the piece of paper you cut off in Step 1? Use that piece of paper to keep track of all the flap orders. To make things even more fun, try writing the words in code!
