Visiting the Air and Space Museum
Today we visited the Air and Space Museum! First we went to the airport to return our rental van, and then we drove to the museum. That place is huge! All the aircraft were displayed in big hangars. The first planes we saw were small fighter planes, and some of the early planes. A machine gun had been positioned on one of the fighters. It looked really cool.
After that, we got to see the area where all the aircraft were restored. One of the planes there had been taken apart! Its wings had been taken off, and its body was in two pieces. Then we went to the space section. The space shuttle Discovery was on display there. It was colossal! Underneath it, there was a TV showing a video of the liftoff of Discovery on its final mission. The liftoff was really cool! There was even a camera that showed the boosters.
There were also a lot of missiles in that section. One of the missiles was about 20 times taller than me!
After that, went on an elevator and got to see the whole hangar from a bridge going over it. There were lots of planes, including the SR-71 Blackbird, Concorde, some bombers, and a couple gliders. There was even a passenger plane!
Then we had to go home. I've added some pictures below. I hope you like them!
